matte . porcelain . design
simple + balanced
natural + elegant
modern + minimalist
small batch handcrafted ceramic jewelry
All pieces are sculpted by hand, gently sanded, carefully drilled, and then fired at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. Only high quality materials are used in these designs: porcelain, stoneware, sterling silver, and gold.
There are no molds or cutters used; hand sculpting creates unique pieces that may slightly differ from others in the series. Your jewelry, therefore, is one of a kind.
about the artist
Carrie Norin is the owner of matte porcelain design. From an early age, she discovered a combined passion for science and art. Carrie is a trained evolutionary biologist and science educator who understands that art and design drive her inquiry of the natural world. Conversely, her jewelry aesthetic is rooted in science - balancing clean lines of modern geometry with the organic imperfection of nature.
Carrie strives to create accessible jewelry that can be enjoyed by every woman. She is blessed to have a group of women she calls her best friends - lawyers, teachers, scientists, artists, stay at home mothers, professors, executives. Carrie aims to create jewelry that all of these women can treasure, and yet can afford. Even while maintaining a fair price point, her handmade pieces convey sophistication, luxury, and individualism.
